If it pumped $231 million in it sucked more than that out of somewhere else. That somewhere would include Licking County residents and employers pockets.

It's a negative sum no matter how you look at it. A positive way to look at it would be that we no the numbers and they need to change. When 1 out of 6 is in the recipient class, that's a big problem.

If you wanted to put a positive on it, you could say that we paid for all of the administrative workers and IT staff to get the money doled out too right? The problem is that those personnel resources are also sucked out of the workforce where they could be producing profitable goods and services.

I realize that the aged, blind, and disabled need assistance, but are 1 in 6 residents handicapped? If they are, it's going to be a tough sell that we have a vibrant work force.

LOL! You are right. You shouldn't need to legislate common sense, but yet we have speed limits, laws on discharging a fire arm in public places, laws against child abuse, labor laws, yelling fire in theaters, etc., etc., etc. The Ohio Revised Code is full of legislated common sense! Yes, it is absurd that the State does not conduct an exit interview of companies leaving Ohio! Whom are you going to hold responsible for this oversight? It is because nobody is taking responsibility that legislative muscle is needed to force the State to act responsibly.

At least your husband and Nan Baker (R-District 16) recognize the problem and are stepping up to the plate to take corrective action on behalf of the citizens of Ohio. This is better than complaining about the absurdity and watching nothing get done. They should be supported, not criticized! Once common sense returns to the Capitol (and people in general) we can enact fewer laws and rescind those that have outlived their purpose.

Jay, my criticism was meant constructively. You clarified your position to me in response to statements I had published. Is this forever supposed to stand as your reason and your right to continually hit on anything concerning Democrats? When you say things like “The Governor ... sounded like our lead cheerleader, but the question is – ‘Is that enough?’” you really should offer alternatives in the same essay, and do so every time you write that sort of stuff. Again - promote your solutions and avoid simple-minded political attacks. Voters are more tired of partisan politics than you seem to realize; also growing more critical of incumbents.

Jay might enhance his image by mentioning solutions along with criticisms. Citizens are truly tired of reading simple-minded political attacks. If Jay has solutions, let him begin promoting them. Hitting on the governor - hammering on what is wrong - is not a solution.
